RENO, NEVADA (Jan 27 2017) A new group will be standing up to fight taxes in the legislature and locally in Washoe County.

Started by Retired Reno Police Sergeant Jeff Church, the group hopes to soon have a Board of Directors and non-profit status.

Jeff points out that Reno-Washoe has no organization representing tax payers against higher taxes, fees and utility costs.  Jeff points to the recent hefty increase in mandatory trash fees approved by the Washoe County Commission that resulted in a “revolt” by citizens at the January 17th commission meeting.

“Calling it a mandatory fee, doesn’t make it better.” Said Church

Among the issues they hope to fight includes seeing that WC1 Sales Tax increase for school building is properly spent. “They even want to spend it on personal cars for school administrators! That violates the intent of the measure and law.” added Church.

Other areas of concern cited on the website, include the proposal to increase sales tax again for more flood control, proposed increases in your property tax, and a proposed increase in car sales tax for Washoe County, and a gas tax making Washoe gas about 30 cents higher than Carson or Fernley.
